bm786
« on: December 02, 2024, 05:32:51 am »
hi,

the battery retaining clip has snapped in my bm786. i've tried reaching out to dave to order a replacement battery compartment, if he even stocks them, but he might've missed the email. would anyone have any advice as to where to grab one in the uk as i can't seem to contact anyone from brymen directly and the stockists i've contacted (telonic, tme, eleshop) haven't been able to help.

thanks for your help in advance.

My suggestion is to keep trying to reach out to Dave.  Did you try direct messaging him?

Good Morning Boeufkak,  I would try contacting the place that sold you the DMM.  It might still be under warranty.  And even it isn't, maybe they can get repair parts. :-//

You could also try reaching out to Welectron.  I have noticed they sell a few spare Brymen parts, although not that specific part currently: https://www.welectron.com/navi.php?qs=brymen+spare

aye, i bought it off the eevblog site, tried contacting him first, no reply.

i also tried basically all of the major european electronics sites i could think of, and of the few that replied, no-one seemed to have any stock of the part. eventually i managed to reach someone at brymen in taiwan who arranged for the spare to be included in a shipment of other stuff going to welectron, but they're ghosting me now and i don't really know what to do. i guess i'll keep trying to reach out to dave as well, but i suppose it's probably going to end up being a paperclip or tinfoil job for a while longer...

Whois is ghosting you? Brymen Taiwan or Welectron?
As a small private customer, I never had communication issue with both.

I would suggest to wait a couple of days and then email again Welectron.

All the best!

welectron. after speaking with the rep in taiwan, he said he'd agreed with someone at welectron to accept the part in a shipment that was being sent to their business. this was a couple of weeks ago. i have repeatedly contacted welectron with my shipping information for an update and in an attempt to generate an invoice so i could pay for the part and have it sent, no acknowledgement whatsoever. i would understand if they don't want to accept payment for something which hasn't arrived from the supplier yet, but i have no idea if that's the case, because no one is willing to talk to me.

In Poland, the authorized distributor of the Brymen brand is Biall.

They once helped me get a part of my meter, unavailable for sale.

What I can tell you is that it could take over a month for a shipment to arrive from Taiwan to Europe.
As I wrote already, wait a few days and email again Welectron and keep in Cc your contact in Brymen (I guess you wrote to @brymen.com right?).
