Title: Breville BOV800XL dim backlight and button repair
Post by: Alex Eisenhut on October 28, 2020, 03:49:35 pm
I should have started this topic with the model so people can find it...

The backlight can be brought back to life with 4 Kingbright APT1608LVBC/D blue LEDs. It's fiddly but worth it, it looks new.

The pushbuttons becoming very hard to register a push is solved by replacing them with Schurter 1301.9302 tactile switches.

The rotary dials becoming fiddly is solved by spraying a small amount of Nu-trol control cleaner into the switches.

Not electronics related but the door spring can be replaced with a generic tension spring as found in this kit

Use the second strongest one but make a 1 inch long extension otherwise the door is far too strong. It will slam into next week without an extender... If you use a weaker one the door won't be able to push the rack back in.

Another item rescued from the trash. And now to toast some English muffins!

Breville makes some nice equipment. I own that oven as well as some other Breville stuff. Luck you to have gotten one for (I assume) almost free.
