Broken AM-535 multimeter
« on: October 24, 2022, 02:22:00 pm »
Hi all. I got a broken multimeter Amprobe AM-535, and I thought I could ask in this forum for help. Turns on, but it can't measure anything on the V input. From what I know, it is damaged by high voltage. I could identify one damaged component at this input, and it looks like a resistor. What would be the value? If I replace it, maybe it will work again :).

Thank you for the help!

That resistor is very commonly a special fusible type, typically 1 k Ω in value, it is possible to get it but the postage charges can be silly from many sellers!

However there is this one :–

. . .It might be cheaper to buy a similar looking meter from AliExpress and use it for spare parts!

It's an enigma that's what it is!! This thing's not fixed because it doesn't want to be fixed!!

insert a standard 1k resistor - if the multimeter is working look for a proper replacement of the resistor.
Otherwise throw it into the bin..

I placed a 0.47k /2W and it seems to work fine. The via fell out and I had to scratch and solder to the trace directly...it's a bit nasty, but at least it's working again :)

ok, but for for safety reasons you should look for a better (orginal) replacement..
