Broken Fluke 45 rear bracket
« on: October 30, 2021, 05:26:28 am »
Just got a Fluke 45 from eBay. All functions are working. The VFD display had some uneven segments but that's acceptable for that age.

The rear bracket was broken. Seller agreed to a partial refund so cannot ask for too much.

What's the best mean to repair it? Using epoxy or fiber glass filler (those use for car panel repair) and sand it smooth, then maybe spray paint it? How about plastic welding. Not sure what exact material is that.

Thanks in advance.

I would use JB Weld or any industrial grade epoxy.

Thanks for the suggestion.

In fact the crack is not so large, When press it can hardly see the crack. Can super glue work?

Potentially. Personally I'd use "super strength" Araldite cured in an oven at ~80C. But that's just me.
