I was contacted by someone with a non-working 54833D scope and I'm wondering if it's worth taking a chance since it's a good chunk of money and I may end up with a paperweight. Repairing it may well be way beyond my skill level or it may be BER, but then there's the lure of the "maybe it's something relatively simple!"-feeling..
Any ideas or hints towards repairability of these errors? Seller wrote the following (paraphrased) "it had a timebase error and was non-functional. Repair offered was a newer refurbished one but that never happened and it was just stowed."
The troubleshooter in the service guide just goes to "Replace acquisition board" for both errors.
In Europe, what would be a fair price for something like this, including the logic probe, two full 1160A probe kits, peripherals etc. in otherwise good cosmetic condition? Seller is asking for a counter offer.
