| Can I replace this custom made 2-phase filter inductor with plain thoroids ? |

Hi, I'm repairing a ventilation system that has a damaged custom made 2-phase mains filter. I contacted the manufacturer and they told me it is a custom job for the ventilation manufacturer, they did not stock it. And the ventilation manufacturer charges an arm and a leg for it. Each inductor in the original filter is 128uH. Would it be ok to replace such a filter with two thoroid chokes each of 128uH inductance? What is the reason they use such a combined filter with the two phases around a iron core instead of just using two chokes? How does combing two such inductors in one unit change the magnetics/inductance? Original filter Considering replacing it with two of these inside a 3d-printed housing. |

128uH seems very low. I would expect that should be millihenries. Perhaps you could use a 1:1 isolation transformer (with correct phasing)? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/353075366503 |

Since it is EI iron core, Drill rivets, Remove core, Cut Mylar tape, Unwind, Counting turns and direction, Rewind with same size enameled wire and Mylar tape. |

easy to remove clamp, varnish, check gap and wdgs for short/open. Get same wire, rewind, reassembele Jon |
