I would ask them if it is sufficient to remove the IC and crack it in half. The mechanical parts could be useful as spares. |

Noctua got back to me in a timely fashion. Unfortunately I voided the warranty by dismantling the unit. :( Now looking at powering the fan using a HDD brushless motor, maybe... |

Like, you sent them a link to this thread and asked for a Mouser link to order the chip? :P Next time simply say the fan doesn't spin and you don't know why, period. |
