Can't remove PCB from module
(1/2) > >>
jrlemieux:
Hello ! I am trying to remove a PCB from an oven control module. The PCB is held to the module by a strange clamp that I've never seen before. I can't figure out how to manipulate this clamp in order to allow me to remove the PCB. The lateral bars at top and bottom have some kind of spring, and they block the side parts that must likely be squeezed. Any clue anyone? Maybe it is an "insert only" clamp? Thanks! JL

It is hard to tell from a single picture, but from what is shown, it looks like you need to pull apart the side pieces and then press the actual clamp sides. I'm sure there is some tool that would let you do this in one press, but for now just jam a screwdriver and press the sides with pliers.

It looks to me like it's in two pieces. The top and bottom parts might be pushed in first, and then there's space for the clamps on either side to be squeezed.

There's probably some sort of removal tool to make it easier.

You could DIY one out of a chopstick or similar:
Make a wedge, when inserted in the gap, that will push in the direction of the yellow arrows. Have it no thicker (or less) than the green line.
Then use pliers to squeeze the tabs in the direction of the orange arrows while pushing the wedge into the gap.
An assistant, or a bit of pretension of the PCB, can help lift the PCB out off the clip.

Still can't work it out. I suppose we need a special tool for removal...
