Hello community and happy new 2023 for you and yours.

A Cary model SLP 03 Preamplifier came in for service. It has a horrible hiss in both channels. It is very well constructed and have been looking around for visible probable causes, bad components, etc., but nothing looks bad. Tubes are not the issue either.

Before starting a deeper disassembly with no information I was wondering if someone can point me to some technical information on this unit, schematich, service manual, or, information on what to look for first.

Very appreciated.

Regards, Carlos.

Hello Carlos, I live just a few blocks from Cary Audio here in Raleigh, North Carolina.

If you contact them through e-mail at techsupport@caryaudio.com you will get a reply.

There are a lot of parts and especially resistors in that preamplifier so maybe they can help narrow it down.

Good luck :-+

Hi, thank you for your reply.

Requirements for service stated on the user manual are, at least, discouraging.

Unfortunately I'm located in South America so it is difficult to send the unit in for repair. I'll try to contact them but I will not have high expectations.. Lets se..

Thanks.
