Chauvin Arnoux E3N
« on: February 01, 2024, 07:10:58 pm »
So I have a Chauvin Arnoux E3N but it's got a broken coax at the end of the strain relief.

Annoyingly I can see a screw that would allow me to get to the end of the cable where I might be able to repair the wire but I cant get to it becuase the handle is in the way.

So anyone got any tips on how to take this thing apart?

So everyone is clear, Calibration = Taking Measurement against a known source, Verification = Checking Calibration against Specification, Adjustment = Adjusting the unit to be within specifications.

So I had a go this evening at taking it apart. They really don't want you fixing these things.

Managed to get the covers off the side, they lift up a little then rotate and ping off. On one side you can see a screw for a pot to adjust it.

I manged to lever the case enough to get one side over the peg but the other side wouldn't go and I didn't want to break it. Might give it another go in a moment.

There are very similar Agilent, Fluke and Instek current clamps:

You're probably correct.

I found this post here in the forum:
If you want a good general purpose DC current probe, look at the:
Tektronix A622, it is 100A but only 100 kHz
It is made by AEMC, Model SL261
and also sold as Fluke, 80I-110S
or Agilent 1146A
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/suggestions-for-dc-current-probes/msg1001757/#msg1001757

The service manual including schematics of the AEMC Model SL261 can be found here:
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1561143/Aemc-Sl261.html?page=2#manual

Last page of the service manual:

Repair and Calibration
To ensure that your instrument meets factory specifications, we recommend that it be submitted to our
factory Service Center at one-year intervals for recalibration, or as required by other standards or
internal procedures.
For Instrument Repair and Calibration:
You must contact our Service Center for a Customer Service Authorization number (CSA#). This will
ensure that when your instrument arrives, it will be tracked and processed promptly. Please write the
CSA# on the outside of the shipping container. If the instrument is returned for calibration, we need to
know if you want a standard calibration, or a calibration traceable to N.I.S.T. (includes calibration
certificate plus recorded calibration data).
