Title: Clean Wavetek wafer switches?
Post by: Axtman on December 17, 2022, 06:09:22 am
I recently acquired a Wavetek 164 sweep generator. What do recommend to clean the wafer switches? I know Tektronix used to recommend isopropyl alcohol. Thanks.

Yeah, the Wavetek wafer switches are semi-enclosed. Squirting some IPA in and working the switch around should take care of it.

Deoxit work best, apply through the holes in the plastic disc.

I am a little nervous about using Deoxit. I had a piece of Heathkit test gear that I sprayed the wafer switches. I disolved the bakelite(?) and ruined the equipment.
