Well, I wanted to do this for a long time. My Tektronix 754D has the newer acquisition board. Serial number B040130. The big 5 chips with heatsinks near the attenuators’ metal housing was combined into 1 chip.
For 754D -> 784D
R1061 R1062 R1063 R1064 is the order.
1 = INSTALLED
0 = Not Installed
0001: TDS784D (Remove all resistors and populate the R1064 with a 0 ohm resistor or short the pads)
1110: TDS754D (populate the R1061 R1062 R1063 with a 0 ohm resistor or short the pads AND leave the R1064 pad open/unsoldered)
Remove Capacitors: These are all close to the attenuators' metal housing.

Also, you must run the SPC to remove any DC offsets/noise. See pictures for more details.
I also upgrade my Firmware from 7.1.1e to 7.4e using this software along with Agilent 82357B
