Mom was going to toss this burger press. thought I look at it.
plug in and did not work.
In the pict this looks to be a diode? not much info out there.
2EZ12A looks to be shorted (reading both ways)
anyone have experience with something like this?

Most likely it's either a 2EZ120 and you read the A wrong, or it's a 2EZ12 with some manufacturer letter code to indicate something irrelevant like tolerance.
That's a big difference in zener voltage though, so try to look at the circuit which of the two it could be.

The connectors along the side of the LH PCB look as though they are not properly seated in their housings.

It looks like there may be a thermal fuse connected to the red wires under the white braided sleeve on the right side of the picture.

120v makes more sense... shows 2A end numbers.

the 2EZ12A on diode check I get .040 & reversed .046

here a pict of the other side of the pcb where I pulled the diode from.
what is the c145 IC and crystal for a sleep timer?
why not a pot or switch, upper lower plate switch and on/off? :( of course toss a fuse in there

hi.. update, have had marginal success. I could never ID the zener exactly, maybe a china copycat diode. I replaced with a 2EZ12D5-TP. The unit turns on now, leds light and and shows preheat. BUT no pwr to the heat coils. I am suspecting the HF7520 relay.
I could be over seeing something here, being this is not my unit, was thinking there was some safety switch that I might need to engage to turn the plates on.. still playing with that?
cannot find source for HF7520 relay outside of china, any know of a source? I quit order stuff from ccp when they sent the virus abroad.

still working on this now and then. got a new HF7520 relay and did not work. :(
So far I got the unit to turn on and all leds light up with the zener diode replacement, but heating plate are not turning on? something is not telling the relay to engage. There are 2, 3-leg smd I suspect transistors q1, q2 and few other smds? see past photo.
any ideas? sounds like switching issue

i did read the manual today. this may have a little more incite into the problem.
now all LED indicators light up after replacing the zener. Red on is for pwr, green on is a indicator of coils heating up and come on & off until up to temp.
well green comes on right off the bat. I will take a look at the sensors more closely, there are 2 (top & bottom plates), but not sure they are tied together in circuit.
anyone know how these sensors work? must be by varied resistance?
thinking sensory circuit or sensors maybe

after talking to myself long enough, think I may have solved it... will get back after I figure it out |O
unit is working, both plates turn on and off, and senses temp warm up and cut out when temp is reached.
maybe I fixed it with just the zener change. I also changed the relay, but did not make a diff at that time.
I had one of the lower temp sensor out a while back, maybe did not put it back in right. Anyway, took that apart, put back together and was able to get the temp sensor light working engaging the plates.. ;D
