Lets take a look at why it will not power on.

Inside pictures, can you spot the issue yet?

Lets replace that bad cap, and the tester says... bad.
Replacement cap in second picture.

All working now. Green power light it a bit hard to see. The bad cap was on the 5V rail that was also part of the feedback section of the power supply so no wonder it would not power up. This unit takes a 12V and 5V rail to operate.

That sure was a shit load of pictures and posts just to see a bulging bad capacitor? I own two of these both with the same identical problem. It is a pain in the ass to get them to open the tray if they sit a few days!! I found that leaving a worthless CDR in the tray when not using the unit seems to help. They are VERY unique because there is a super simple button press hack that makes them 'region free'!!! That is why I own two!!

It also has a serial port but I am not sure what it does as this was a friends unit and I was only asked to fix it not turning on.
