I've had a cyberpower UPS in service for a few years. About a year ago, it beeped and shut down, powered up for a few seconds, shut down, and... I don't recall exactly what happened, but that problem seemed to just go away. Well, it happened again and this time after a few power cycles, my BIOS got corrupted...
This time I turned off the UPS and waited a minute or so - unplugged the devices - and powered it back up. I noticed the battery indicator was full while this thing was throwing its tantrum, but when I got it powered back up stable, the batter indicator was 3%. I let it sit for an hour or so and the battery was full again.
I plugged the devices into the surge ports (not BU battery) and it has been working fine for a couple weeks.
I plan to connect a couple hundred watt lights to the BU battery output and determine the capacity.
I'm sure most will suspect the battery and, if so, this operating mode seems like a horrendous design flaw since the power did not go out.
On the chance that the battery delivers, any idea what I should look for?
