DC-DC converter AN8083S IC - but from where it draws energy?

Hi,

I am really puzzled by the application circuit shown in this datasheet.
That is an old DC-DC IC, but what supplies energy to that circuit.
My best guess is that PVcc should be hooked to a power supply/battery, which is not shown on the circuit diagram...

Are you mistaking the [unorthodox] battery symbol for a capacitor?

Ah indeed, easy to miss: On PVCC theres a battery symbol above the Clk-Pin.

The circuit diagram is indeed a bit hard to read, but it brings me back to the good old days when everything came with a circuit diagram.

btw, did you notice the strange symbol for electrolitic capacitors?
Something like 3 Zs next to each other.
Haven't seen that before as well.
