I don't know any books to recommend, but I'm sure I've found some modern TV repair type pdf books, some of them as part of pdf collections on torrent sites. But I never really used them, I have some EE textbooks, and for repair advice I just used the net and youtube.
But in general, a LCD TV or monitor, will have some Switch Mode Power Supplies, SMPS stages, like to go from 170VDC, down to say 12 or 5VDC voltage rails, like for powering common chips and their circuits. And the Standby power, is also a largely separate SMPS. And then some other step-down converter might take 12V and turn out 3.3V for some video IC's.
And then they might have some sections going from 170VDC down to 50V, and then another stage taking that 50V back up to 150V, but like putting a transmission into different gears for different loads and speeds. I have a broken LED TV with voltage rails something like that.
There should be lots of good general electronics repair books that would cover the basics, like the mains input, and rectifier's, and linear regulators, diodes/BJT's/etc. And any modern book should get into SMPS's , switching regulators/etc too.
Once you know the power sections are OK, then you could move on to the rest of the TV/monitor.
If I had it here, I'd check all kinds of stuff un-powered with a DMM, then turn it on and make sure the voltage rails are ok, and if not, why not.
Like for instance if the capacitors in the backlight output stage are failing, and they leak and can't build up enough voltage, the controller will probably sense that, and shut down for a while, or even until the TV resets.
