Title: dell inspiron 1720 overheating
Post by: quadzillatech on April 04, 2019, 12:26:16 am
Hi all,im not sure if this is the corect section but here goes, ive the above laptop,it was a 1.73ghz proc,i swapped that for a 2.5ghz one along with 2x ssd drives,it is on win7 with 4gb ram, fitted the new proc and drives about 6 months ago and its been fine, now without warning it shuts down without warning, when i reeboot it says it shutdown due to it overheating,i stripped it down and cleaned the heatsink and replaced the compound,i actualy took the cover off of the fan to clean it,the spindle fell out with the impeller,i lubed it and refitted it,still no change,i got a new fan and heatsink today cleaned it all with acetone to remove the old thermal paste and put it back together, its still the same,it runs for about 2mins max before it dies,it doesent apear to get even warm tho and the fan runs at sort of medium speed, any ideas where to go next with it,its got me puzzled,i assume there must be a iffy temp sensor somewhere?,regards m3vuv.
