Weller DSX-80 desoldering iron repair
« on: November 07, 2017, 11:53:39 pm »
Hello everyone.

Just found that DSX-80 desoldering iron, that I use with my WMD-3 station, started to demonstrate wrong behavoir. Once I put it back to stand, temperature on a WMD-3 display changed with three dashes, and looks like it starting to cool. I tried to straighten wire where it come to a handle, and temp. reappeared on display immediately. Turned it off prompltly, and now thinking how to repair it, because it is needed often in thru hole rework.

If it is broken wire near entry to handle - it is possible to shorten cable little bit to fix it, or new cable necessary anyway?

this is a common problem, you can shorten the cable, or buy a new length.

if you are in Europe, Rapid sells replacement cable for irons.
