Denon AVR-1610 red light flashing protect mode successful repair

Just placing this here in case someone else is repairing this unit.

Symptom: Amp goes into protection mode and red ring around standby/on button flashes quickly.

Cause: In this case the middle 7812 regulator labelled IC1700 was faulty and 100uf 35v electrolytic capacitor C1702 was shorted on the small power pcb in the top left corner.
