I use this when working in the garage, it doesn’t keep memory anymore. That usually saved on a chip these days right, what would I be looking for when I take it apart? Thanks Michael

Look for a dead battery, dead supercap, or serial eeprom IC like 24c256, etc.

There are AA backup batteries, accessible from the outside, for clock and probably to keep the other saved parameters, too. Maybe those batteries are dead. Have you checked them?
