DMM failing to meter DC voltage unless after minute waiting

Anyone experienced how to solve a DMM (of medium quality not top/best one) failing to meter DC voltage unless after probing several times later or perhaps just waiting a minute or so later, after which it will work normally for the needed measurement

abdulbadii, What is the make and model of your medium quality DMM?

Sounds like a bad contact or open (fusible?) resistor in series with the input to me. What is the input that you measure when you measure resistance with the meter set to DCV between the V/Ohm terminaland COM terminal with another DMM, and what is the input impedance specified in the manual for that DCV range? And is this value stable or does it slowly change like the reading on the defective DMM?
