Does IT8528E I/O chip require programming before use?

Need to replace one of these chips, does it need to be programmed?

Do you have a datasheet?

Some of the ITE ECs share the same flash as the BIOS, others have their own internal flash.

It's not a datasheet, but it might help you to work out whether it has any flash.

From the block diagram, it would appear that the "SPI ROM 4MB (BIOS/EC)" is external.
