DPO4054 trace shift in 50 ohms
« on: December 13, 2019, 10:28:33 am »
Hi

I have a DPO4054  that is exhibiting substantial trace shift in channel 1 in 50 Ohms mode
the gain is improper in 100mv, 200mv less by about 25 %. At 500mv and 1V the trace goes out of screen
Channel 1 works ok in 1 Mega ohms mode
Other channels l are functioing ok.
Any hints welcome

thanks in advance

I've never seen this occur on a DPO4054 but I have seen it a few times on a TDS3054, and both times I observed this behavior it turned out the the 50 ohm attenuator inside the scope was fried (most likely from overload).  Is the channel 1 input really 50 ohms when you put it in that mode?  You can check it with an ohmmeter and it should measure 50 ohms +/- 1%.

This may be obvious, but let the Oscilloscope warm up for 30 minutes then run the SPC and see if it resolves the issue.
