tektronix TDS540C cursor partial failure
« on: December 01, 2019, 05:39:11 am »
Hello, I've purchased this week on eBay a TDS540C which seems to work OK, pass the start self-test and SPC test.

However there is one failure I notice with cursor management: the H-bar work OK but the V-bar are not working properly.

The V-bar will never appear on the screen upon selection plus the display of its values (DELTA and ABSOLUTE) seems to be multiplied by 100x when comparing on the Horizontal scale time division.

If choosing the InstaVu then both V-bars appear on the screen and shows correct values.

Same failure under paired cursor who never show up on the display but will appear if choosing InstaVu mode.

Thank you, Albert

Set OK in the utility menu "Tek Secure Erase Memory". Maybe it helps.

Hello Alfons,

Your suggestion has worked, now vertical bar cursors and display works fine wether normal view or InstantVu

However this "Tek Secure Erase Memory" has considerably reduced the brightness of the display which I can hardly see now. Do you know of an easy and quick method to increase the brightness of the screen ?

Thank you, Albert

In the display menu you will find everything you need. Since you can adjust the overall brightness or each color. OK, you have black and white? But no matter, in the display menu, you can set everything. But do not be fooled: it is often more pleasant to work with less brightness. Protects the eyes.
