Dynatech Nevada Model 625 Function Generator, No Output
« on: May 19, 2024, 05:24:57 pm »
As said up in the subject, said function generator is on my own table being fixed and figured out for own use. But it starts itself up in Remote mode, and as far as my own observation goes, the IEEE-488 is empty. Couple button clicks gets it so it won't lock itself up, and at no point i've gotten anything out from front panel Main out, or the back panel one. I'm not ruling my own errors in operating it, but i think i should have gotten it to output something, at some point. Getting lights to lit up in same spots as the one in Ebay i have been able to do, but there's absolutely nothing in the outputs. How to proceed with this? If it matters, serial for this is 019. Also new member in forums, but probably best chance to find something in form of information and help with this function generator.

Starting to suspect that the bigger problem of this is with the person trying to operate it. Starting to see output out of this thing, or my oscilloscope is showing something, i can call that progress.

So after about a year you have an output?

If you measure something else, is the scope screen different or the same?

I think you've found some sort of a record, of unknown.

My prediction is that there must be a GPIB controller installed or some internal signals go wrong.

So Fluke Biomedical.

Maybe it's a lost cause for a manual of your machine.

Oscilloscope i have, it's 2-channel and i have Velleman's usb function generator that i can use to make signal i can compare with what that Dynatech is feeding out. I've taken time off that project as i felt i was hitting my forehead on a brick wall. Learning how to use that properly and figuring out if the process i need to go to get it to output has something to do with internal faults if there are some. When i got that, and was trying to get it to work, i was unable to get anything out of it and after a moment it locked itself up. I've been able to get it to output something, however changing waveform doesn't seem to currently do anything.

Open it and take few pictures.
Maybe somebody has seen it elsewhere.

Looking at this again, and looking up the chips. AD539JD has small piece missing from the corner, however not sure how or if that has effect in anything operationally. Also label fell off HN482764G-4, which comes up in google as Hitachi memory IC. Took some pictures that i'm going to work through to pc later.

Small corner doesn't mean much.
Leg inside a package is first going towards the other side a bit and then turning to the center.
If you can't see any leg peeking it probably is nothing.
Possibly still the same if leg is peeking, but then it's more possible that overheat has steamed out.

Memory chip is a very standard thing, label is not really relevant, the chip has been in the dark.
But even if the chip is operational it can still contain what it should or not.
Many times these memories have a checksum as last data.
