Failed ZHQ microswitch in hedge trimmer
« on: July 10, 2019, 07:56:07 pm »
Hello, I am trying to repair a Eckman hedgtrimmer. I have found the fault that appears to be the ZHQ microswitch (see attached pix).

I am somewhat of a novice with micro switches but to confuse matters this has 2 mini buttons that are triggered by the plastic button in the housing. When I press one of them the unit works, when I reinstall the plastic button and casing (which presses both of them together) it does not work. I assume a failed switch?

Also why are there 2 buttons on the micro switch! is this a fail safe?

And also can anyone recommend a suitable replacement I might be able to get in the UK/Europe as I cannot find ZHQ switches for sale in the UK. It is a ZHQ ZQ7 12/1.

Thanks in advance!

It looks like a dual pole microswitch, I.E. it switches live and neutral.

So it completely isolates the mains from the motor when off and yes, I suppose it's unlikely that both poles fail together.

Something like this perhaps?

Or perhaps this:

I don't think both switches fail together at the same time.
