Faluty computer power supply
« on: October 05, 2022, 09:45:54 pm »
Hello Community,

I have a NeXT Cube (a 90's computer) with a faulty power supply. When I power on the computer, it stays up or about 4 seconds and then shuts down again.
Is this a common fault ? What part of the power supply should I be looking at first ?
I did a visual inspection, and noticed nothing, capacitors are not leaking, nor bulged.

Thanks in advance,
Regards

Capacitors are the most common problem, although it's possible something is overloading it and causing it to shut down. Most of the time when capacitors fail there are no visual signs of problems, leaking/bulging happens only when they are REALLY bad.
