SMD fuse marking?
« on: August 08, 2018, 09:36:03 am »
I have an SMD fuse that I cannot identify. It is approx 10mm long and carries the sole marking 'AUR'.
It is probably around 10A 250V and I will replace with a wire-ended glass fuse for fault finding purposes, but would like to know of its other characteristics for future reference.
Has anyone info on this as I can find nothing. It lived on a 2011 USA-manufactured PCB.
Regards, BT

Could the rating be on the underside?

I was hoping no-one brought up this question. At least it gives me the chance to use a red-face emoticon!  :-[
Not having a Thermotweeze iron, I used two irons to unsolder the fuse and it lifted off nicely, however my inward pressure caused the tips to 'cross' and it disappeared- it didn't jump far, and my workbench is fairly tidy but I cannot find it. I will have another look, but there was no print on either side. In the second unit that I am repairing the fuse body had vapourised or shattered leaving just the end caps on the pads.

I located the fuse- it has no other markings that 'AUR'.
I note that some manufacturers use a single capital letter to ID SMD fuses, but cannot find this particular one.
The two units will live with wire-ended 10A fuses for the time being !
Thanks,  BT

Now that you've found it, is it blown? If not, you may be able to determine its value.
