Find Omron Switch
« on: December 26, 2019, 02:27:31 am »
I am working on trying to replace some Omron switches that are on my Razer Orbweaver keypad. They are wearing out and I would rather not spend $110 on a new one, and I am willing to attempt to replace them. I have ran into one snag. I can't seem to find the part number for this microswitch. I've looked on both Mouser and Digikey for a couple hours now with no luck. I am hoping someone might lead me in the proper direction. The only marking on the switch is 214 on one of the longer sides besides the Omron logo on top. You can see the switches in this video, I have linked directly to the important part: https://youtu.be/A5si4TL3onA?t=648

I have taken measurements as well:

Width: 4.9mm
Length: 8.7mm
Height: 3mm
Button Width: 1.7mm
Pin width: 1mm

2 Pins: Pretty sure the switch is normally open. Missing middle pin for standard 3 pin microswitches.

There is a topic on Razer's forum for the Razer Tartus V2 and it has a very similiar keyswitch, but it is made by a different company:

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Try this site: https://www.newark.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/search?catalogId=15003&langId=-1&storeId=10194&st=omron%20micro%20switch&pageSize=25&showResults=true&CMP=KNC-GUSA-GEN-KWL-DSA-Abandoned-Cart-OMRON&mckv=s9jtBdIA7_dc|pcrid|363778125101|plid||kword||match|b|slid||product||pgrid|17246336301|ptaid|aud-126792145221:dsa-288097053985|&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIiMbv6MfS5gIVVBx9Ch3DIgFhEAAYAiAAEgKoJvD_BwE

Thank You andy3055. Well I looked through those and I haven't seen anything that new. From what I've found the closest match is the D2F series but those are 5mm tall. The SS series look similar as well but they are 8mm tall. I think the biggest thing I realized from looking at Newark is the switch I'm looking for does NOT have two holes for mounting hardware, hence the smaller profile. I can't seem to find an Omron model that doesn't have mounting holes and has the really slim profile. I typically look in the Microswitch section or the Tactile section. I don't think I would ever find this type in the Tactile section, but I always look. I would imagine that the section it should fall under is "Ultra subminiture", and that is where you find the D2F and SS series switches. I would like to refurbish my Orbweaver $15 instead of having to shell out another $110 for a new one... I guess the only upside is the new one has RBG lightning...

Unfortunately those results don't match what I'm looking for. If you check the video in the OP you will need it needs to be like a micro switch, not a button. I'm trying to find an existing switch to replace what was there, not something new for a build.

Can you post a picture of the existing switch? The video shows the button but it is hard to imagine what the switches look like.

There are 4 of the switches in the normal + and another on the board hanging off the cable for more of a side view.

Cool! I'll have to see if I can source some when I get home. Those are the closest ones I've seen.
