Diode replacement help
« on: July 03, 2018, 05:38:13 pm »
Hi,

I’m trying to replace a broken T4 diode that got destroyed while I was assembling the device. The device is the circuit board of an electronic cigarette.
Picture of the diode elsewhere on the board.

That T4– I think – was in the screen driving circuitry of a 1 inch black and white oled, because when it got broken the screen turned off while the device was working fine without the screen.

I don’t have that same diode for replacement, so I’m trying to decide which part should I replace it with and learn something new doing so.

The voltage across the diode is 0.5v when the screen is on and 2.5v when the screen is off.

I replaced it was this:

and the screen worked, but the problem is it’s a different size and the diode is hanging in the breeze and any it can easily come loose.

I also replaced it with this and it’s working fine :
Here it is soldered in its place.

My replacement options are the two diodes above and the following:

My question is, which of those will be the closest replacement for the T4 diode.

Thanks.

T4 is a 1N4148 diode in a SOD-123 case. The others appear to be a different type.

BAV16W is a correct replacement.
