fixing my cheapo soldering station
« on: October 09, 2018, 12:33:36 pm »
Hi all,
I have cheapo soldering station for smd rework. however, after 6 months of usage I've noticed that the temperature is unstable and goes even worse with the time like going up to 800 and stays there for three minutes and the heater is off.
this video shows the partial problem

anyway, since I know how to program Arduino, and with extra stuff used I managed to fix it
of course the following has been used
Max6675 thermocouple type K signal conditioning IC
L298N Motor driver used as switch for switching
1602LCD for display
encoder to set the temperature
since I don't have 3D-printer I couldn't build my own case, so I referred to store and I got myself a box and start what I hate most, labour work but I managed to get it pretty decent though
this is the final product.

hope you like this small topic with my attempt to fix it.
price of the new one is about 60$
the fix is about 12$
but the results are far superior compared with the original
