ALFA AWU036H repair
« on: November 12, 2014, 10:01:38 am »
Hello, i have two alfa awu036h usb wireless adapters which suddenly became dead for no apparent reason, opened them up and did some basic checks and found out that "FB3" was busted, i tried to replace both on my alfa's but yay magic smoke came, again did some multimeter checks and the ouput of the power supply section which contains the FB3 goes to the rf power amp section, i removed the rf amp chip (U5) no more shorts, no more smoke hehehe, the problem is i cant figure the part number of the chip, the marking on the chip is 1046, google search yields no sure results, i was wondering if any of you guys are familiar with this chip or a known direct replacement for it.

Thanks in advance.

Searching for

1046 16-qfn

yields this

I don't know if this the right part, but at least you have a pinout and a circuit diagram for comparison?
