Burnt circuit board jumper questions
« on: January 29, 2024, 05:47:20 pm »
Good day everyone,

As you will see in pic, there was an arc on this board (liquid spill) right at a high VDC point.  I am attempting to add a jumper from pin 3 solder pad to the via hole circled on the top.  I cant get the jumper pin in the via hole.  Is there another way to jump the trace?  I have attached a pic of the burnt lead and its twin right beside it.

Many thanks!

Trace that via on the other side of the board and run the jumper from a solder point there.

Welcome.

That board surface is pretty carbonized and probably conductive at HT. It needs scraping back to bare clean fiberglass before you proceed with the repair. If you want to use the via, then drill it out (it's not serving any useful purpose now anyway) and put the wire through, soldering to the track on the other side after scraping off the solder resist.
Best Regards, Chris
