Fluke 111 AC problem
« on: May 13, 2020, 07:59:12 pm »
Got a Fluke 111 in very nice condition, but got problems in AC:

- AC Voltage when removed takes long and eventually never raches zero even with shorted leads
- AC current takes time to measure approx correct current, but shows no frequency (works on voltage) and takes time to go back to zero.

Any ideas which components might be the culprit ?

I checked the caps, resistors (some have not value printed) and some assumed diodes and transistors which all measure plausible.

Can cleaning help ?

Its sister models are Fluke 110 and Fluke 113

Thanks ,
Thomas

Try taking apart the rotary knob carefully and slowly.  Clean entire switch area and knob and it's connectors with IPA.

See if the connectors or bent or broken.

Thanks retiredcaps, I tried but it looks like new from factory. Also IPA did not improve.

I wonder if these 11x meters are normally behaving like this (very slow AC current measurement, both to the measured value and back to zero)

Also in Voltage AC, the meter is incredibly sensitive to 50Hz hum. Without shorting the leads it never goes to zero.

I don't have one so I can't comment if it's normal or not.
