« on: August 01, 2019, 10:31:11 am »
Just scored a Fluke 199C which display “The instrument needs calibration.   Please contact your service center. ” Is there a way to reset this message without a full calibration ?

That's probably because someone update to the latest firmware. I remember in the old Fluke Forums that there was a warning:

Quote
Upgrading Earlier Versions - Instruments with firmware version V5.0x and V6.x cannot be upgraded to V8.04 in the field. These instruments require re-calibration after upgrading. Therefore these units must be returned to a Fluke Authorized Service Center. Contact your local service center and order a firmware upgrade and calibration according to PCN 4841. Note: For the firmware upgrade and calibration a nominal fee will be charged.

Going backwards is not possible too, because the calibration was lost already.

Try this from the service manual (Fluke 192B/196B-C/199B-C Service Manual 5-18) - http://assets.fluke.com/manuals/192B____smeng0100.pdf

Hooked up with signal generator and voltage source found those readings are within range (looks like the calibration data still valid)

Followed the manual, it didn’t reset the warning. Looks like the previous own did saved the precal data instead of just turning it off.

Doing a full calibration is not feasible as I don’t have the required square wave source.
