Fluke 289 super capacitor
« on: September 25, 2018, 09:50:34 pm »
Hi,

I am out of warranty for the Fluke 289 and I need to replace the super cap which of course is leaking.

Any part # or equivalent specs for a better than the OEM Panasonic one?

Thank you very much!
Laurent

There are lots of threads on that.  Just search for 289 Super Capacitor.

Rebuilt my Flukes 189 with theses  :
https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/elna-america/DX-5R5H104U/604-1022-ND/970183     100mf or 0.1 farad
https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/elna-america/DX-5R5H334U/604-1024-ND/970185     330mf or 0.33 farad

I used the 5.5volts super cap, with a slight pins bending they fit perfectly ....  be careful of the polarity, there an small "-"   (minus sign) on the top  and check on the pcb  before removing the ''old'' part, dont over heat the pcb traces, and do an proper board cleaning after.

HELLO boys!
I need your help. :'( :'( :'(
I have the tester 289 that as I turn on gives me an "incorrectly connected cables."
Could it be the super capacitor?
it is damaged. the fluke is 289 and of the year 2008.
I found on ebay a PANASONIC GOLDCAP KONDENSATOR Capacitor 0,22F 3,6V 10x5MM[/img].
You can help me?
Thank you.

Can you please tell me exactly wich optocoupler is damaged? I do not have a schematic.
At first it happened sometimes in cold and wet environments. Now it always has this bad behavior.
Can I find the same octocoupler ? Do I need to replace it with a compatible one?

Thank you

You're right. Where can I find it in Europe or Italy?
Anything compatible?

The PCB you show looks like it has been soldered before... No by you I suppose?
Are you sure the meter is still working?

I am sorry for my bluntness, but based on your shown experience you do not seem to have that much experience in electronics...
Are you sure you are capable to make this repair and would it not be wiser to put this one with a correct description on ebay and buy yourself a working new one (calibrated and within spec?)
