Well I did the unmentionable and hit 2000V with my meter and heard a pop and then no readings on any function. The unit powers on and the screen displays the modes I’m on eg. VAc, VDc, Capacitor, Diode..... but won’t take a reading. I opened up and found R99 popped off the board! 😬
I checked the resistor and it tested good on another meter but tossed in trash and installed a new one. Didn’t see any evidence of anything visually but once powered on with new resistor still the same.
Any suggestions were to start looking. The big issue is I don’t have a diode or capacitor tester now!

I would check the protection circuit:
RT1 1.1K
RV1 RV2 RV3
R20 100K

Well when my NEW meter comes in :palm:I will check them. Thank you for your help!

I've just received a 867B with battery corrosion and haven't been able to check it as working yet however I'd be really unlucky if it had been blasted with an over-voltage on top of that.
If you've had no luck with the input protection and want a clue on the RIC2 pin 21 input:
On mine with switch in off position and using diode test on another DMM reads 0.96V with common to 867B's input common and positive to S1-6, reversing polarity reads 1.47V.
