The Durahells leak still, just they tend to dump that lovely caustic product into the terminal area after a few weeks, and then it migrates up into the battery holder contacts, and, if it is the clip type, it corrodes up the wires, or if it is a plate type it corrodes them nicely, and then migrates to the board.
Never had a failed 9V battery, other than the mass plate zinc oxide type, where at least one of the internal AAAA cells had not leaked out somewhat when the battery was at it's end of life voltage. The mass plate works well for that because they are wax impregnated, so contain the goo pretty well. If the corrosion has gone into the holder you need to replace with a new one, complete with wires, because they will be rotted out inside the insulation.
