Fluke OptiView Series III Help (what's this connector)
« on: June 09, 2020, 03:49:53 am »
Hello all!
I have a Fluke OptiView SIII. I bought it parts/repair hoping it would be something simple. It might be. I am still unsure. There's 2 boards in here -- 1 an Intel Pentium Based mini tablet PC. The other the Fluke Networks add in card. I can't get the 2 to talk to each other. I was able to repair the tablet PC portion. It needed a CMOS clear because the coin cell battery was just flapping in the breeze. The network aquisition card is giving me trouble.

The way I think this works is it's some Intel NIC driver that Fluke hacked together. It says I need to set the NIC TCP/IP settings to specific values. I've done this and they save. It just says that the network cable is still disconnected and the OptiView Program tells me kindly that my settings are wrong. The data module powers up and flashes white LEDs on boot. The reset button flashes a green LED. The fans also spin.

There's an unpopulated Sodimm looking slot. I'm debating if that's possibly the cause of the issue and if that's something that's required for this to work. I can't see any pictures online if that's the case. I've tried installing DDR1 sodimm like the other board needed but that didn't seem to fit, they look awwwfulllyyy similar and it nearly works.

Here's a bunch of photos, hope they help:

I really hope I can fix this ~~ I'd love to own one of these and use it too :>

PS. any service manuals would be nice, I can't find them online :)

Best,

It's DDR2 SODIMM. I should've figured it out sooner.
 :palm:
I found an old stick of it laying around. That fixed all the problems.
