Is there any point in doing something to prevent them from failing, maybe attach a heat sink to them?

Over the years I had / have many of these scopes and some have failed and some have not.
Without any scientific proof, I would say that those scopes that are used often / constantly will not show this problem.
And those that are turned off for a long time and then suddenly turned ON again, will suddenly display this failure.

Every time I watched this failure, it happened when the scope was turned on after a longer pause.
In other words, the problem never occurred during usage.

I still have 6 scopes PM3394B in regular use and they have been working for decades.

my guess is that after a long period of inactivity, electrolytic capacitors do not wake up at the same time and cause an imbalance in the power supply, which leads to damage to the hybrid chip.
