Without any scientific proof, I would say that those scopes that are used often / constantly will not show this problem. And those that are turned off for a long time and then suddenly turned ON again, will suddenly display this failure. Every time I watched this failure, it happened when the scope was turned on after a longer pause. In other words, the problem never occurred during usage. I still have 6 scopes PM3394B in regular use and they have been working for decades. |

Every time I watched this failure, it happened when the scope was turned on after a longer pause. --- End quote --- my guess is that after a long period of inactivity, electrolytic capacitors do not wake up at the same time and cause an imbalance in the power supply, which leads to damage to the hybrid chip. |
