FPC cable repair
(1/1)
PlainName:
Need some advice on how to fix an FFC/FPC cable that connects to a keypad. The photos (sorry about the poor quality) show the problem - I either need to replace the FPC where it connects to the kepad (under the green tape, disappearing straight down that hole), or splice a new on onto the business end that's completely worn away. Or somehow regenerate the stiff end.
The FPC is 8-way 1mm pitch.

This type of cable uses traces made with conductive paint as contact points instead of copper or other metals.
Conductive paint may be able to repair the damage, but it will not stand up to connector insertion and removal.
it looks like it should be cut to the undamaged area.

Yeah, I'm puzzled how this was meant to be a robust and lasting connection in the first place :)
Is there a way to take the protective coating off? I could then use conductive paint to graft a new cable onto this one (hopefully).
