This scope has been at repair at service center (while in warranty) but either they didn't fix the issue or it appeared again later. Also, this same unit had some issues with touchscreen - not sure if I understood right but it may be that the intended repair was to fix the touch issue but when it was returned it had additional problems with the buttons.
The problem is that the front panel buttons make random actions - switching trigger type, enable/disable some channels. As far as I could trace down the schematic, those (buttons and leds) are controlled by I2C expander (or more than one). It does not seem to be affected by twisting/pushing the panel or connectors. But still only some buttons are affected, so it is not totally random. For example channel enable/disable happens only on channel 1 (or at least most of the time, I have not seen it on other channels).
So I am looking for help to bring back to usable state this 350Mhz, 4 channel, WinXP device. Is it possible to find a service manual (schematic level)? Or, any hints from other "pacients" of similar type?
As far as I can tell, the problem comes from the buttons. No matter that I see random "lights" on the panel, I think that this is expected reaction, when channel gets randomly disabled I see both the led on the panel and the GUI on the screen to act in sync - both acting like there was a button pressed.
So, most reasonable conculsion is that there is an electrical problem with rubber buttons on the panel. But cleaning and careful inspection does not reveal a reason.
