FT818 minor scratch to display
« on: October 17, 2023, 10:34:15 am »
I've had the 818 less than a month and have a tiny but annoying scratch on the display.

I'm usually very careful with my equipment so not sure how this happened.

Can these displays be fixed or replaced, or would it mean replacing the whole front of the radio ?

A Yaesu FT-818? Well the actual display is covered with a plastic "window" which is what faces the outside world. That's what you scratched (unless you took the radio apart and actually scratched the LCD display). Without a picture to look at ... sure you can try to polish the plastic at your own risk.

I've polished similar sorts of things and it works. Perhaps get one of those automobile headlight restoration kits or something like that. Can't say it'll work for sure but it'll probably make it better. Unless it's a deep gouge - no pic to look at.  :(
I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.
