Garmin Vector 2 / 2S Pedal Pod Repair
« on: August 01, 2023, 11:21:17 am »
Hi All,

Any thoughts on how to potentially repair this cable? Appears to have broken somewhere inside the black rubber casing, no continuity between pins and other end of ribbon cable going into a PCB. I suspect this has been the cause of the issue.

Garmin no longer sells/produces this unit. I've searched everywhere to find a replacement but doesn't appear as though it is for sale anywhere. Aliexpress has some replacements of unknown condition, but for an extortionate price, hence makes it uneconimical to replace.

Note, in the photos there is a break in ribbon, that happened during extraction from the PCB.

Thanks!

Can you get at the other end (even if you have to drill into the body behind the pins)? If so, bypass with external cables. Won't be pretty but should work. Are all connections broken?

Unfortunately I dont think it would be an option other than to prove it all works on a bench. I've attached a photo of the pedal where the previously shown connector connects to after the pedal is installed on the bike.

In case anyone else finds this from a Google search. I did end up finding a replacement, from Garmin South Africa, whereas all other Garmin regions were sold out and no longer offering replacements. If you do need to order from Garmin SA, look for a retailer that can order direct from Garmin and they should be able to send the replacement to you. Good luck!
