Title: GHD 4.2B Working only in UPS

Hi, I have this GHD hair straightener and makes a weird thing. If I plug it into the wall outlet, it doesn't make anything, but if I plug it into an UPS powered outlet, then it works perfectly.


Can anybody help me?

Sounds like the outlet has some issue or power limitation. I assume the plug makes good contact in the socket and the output voltage of the outlet is the same as the UPS.
Try the GDH in another known good outlet.
Try another device of 150W or more in the original outlet.
Eventually try inverting the plug, I mean turn it 180° in the socket if the model of the plug allows for this? In this way it inverts fase and neutral.

Outlet works Ok, it delivers 237-240V but UPS delivers 220 exact.

Over voltage it then seems to be, not necessary the actual on.
I assume you've swapped plug sides and it's double protected device and 2 prong plug.
