Need source for carbon ribbon tape for LCD repair 24 pin
« on: March 13, 2022, 06:14:45 pm »
Hello!
I am trying to help a friend fix an infrared remote that is no longer made.  She damaged the carbon ribbon tape messing with it.  I have a T iron and the conductive clear tape now.  The ribbon is damaged enough that I am not able to get it to work.  Plus I need it to be a little longer.  At least 2”.  It is 24 pin tape.  I have included a picture. Doe anyone know where to source this?  Any direction greatly appreciated.  I am a hobbyist that most works on tube guitar amps.

Robert

Thanks for the reply!  I can use a ribbon cable to solder direct to pcb.  I just wasn’t sure if it would adhere well to the lcd screen.  The existing plastic carbon ribbon was heat pressed to the lcd screen with conductive tape.  I have the conductive tape and a t iron now.  I have not played with conductive ink.  I think you are suggesting I repair the existing carbon ribbon with that.  I will look into that.  Robert
