Glue for rubberdome of flat keyboard
« on: May 30, 2022, 07:09:55 pm »
Hi,

I have a keyboard with individual rubberdome switches. Each of them glued individually. A few got loose and I want to glue them again. So far I used superglue, but it isn't ideal, as it's a bit brittle or too stiff.

What is the glue that is usually used for fixating rubberdomes? Ideally one that can be removed again once dried if corrections are necessary (e.g.,  if the key doesnt lower nicely).

Does anybody know the "official" type of glue used for rubberdomes?

In similar situations with a remote and a keyboard key I ended up using GE transparent silicone rtv. Been holding for several years and easy to remove if needed.
Just need to be careful with surface prep and use a toothpick to apply.
Also worked well for speaker dust cap in the center.

I wish mine were glued, what a mess sometimes when I go to replace the cord time after time. And for the past few days, my top numbers aren't working besides 56, after putting this KB back together this time.
