Hello EEVblog forum repair gods,
I have been lurking for a long time and haven't had the necessity to create a account to post about problems with my test equipment because there always was a post that solved my issues already.
Today is different, I haven't come across a post with this problem for the F289.
The issue is that after replacing the internal 3V battery, the LCD decided to show some faded lines where there is not anything displayed. I have tried to disconnect and reconnect the LCD, clean the LCD connector and inspected the LCD module to see if there were some obvious flaws but there aren't. This leads me to believe that the problem my be in the LCD driver section. I have also tried with different main battery voltages but it doesn't make a difference and I would say that the fading is getting worse, I will attach some photos.
I have also performed the complete lead detection system components swap as I bought this meter for 250€ second hand with that problem but after that repair was done there wasn't any flaws in the LCD, it was only after the internal battery swap (older board revisions seem to have a supercapacitor instead of the battery).
Thank you for saving me some many times already,
iuuang.
