Help Identifying Unmarked Component
« on: October 28, 2023, 03:15:56 am »
Hey y'all I need some help identifying these unmarked components (see photos attached. 2nd one they are circled in blue).  They are on a gel electrophoresis power supply I am trying to repair (make/model E-C Apparatus Corp, EC570).  It is a power supply that can get up to 250VDC/2.5A and 500VDC/1.25A.  It was manufactured in the mid-1980s if that helps.  They both test short, but I'm not sure if they are suppose to be like that or not.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That PCB layout suggests the 70's or early 80's.

Can't see...two leads? My guess would be a varistor. But draw the circuit around it and see if that makes sense.

Probably filtering inductors... Check if a magnet sticks to them.

PCB looks like it is from the mid-80s based on date codes from the other components.  And they both have two leads!

Probably filtering inductors... Check if a magnet sticks to them.

I will give that a try - thanks!
